Van Diemen had always been known to do well in the track and field events during the 1960’s and in the late 1960’s, it was one of the top houses. However, 1971 saw the defunct of the House and it was only this year that the House was introduced again. This history.
At present the members of Van Diemen House only include the Lower Sixes – boys and girls, the Form Ones and Form Fours. However this imbalance will soon be rectified within the coming years.
However at the time of the School Sports, the House was only able to field the Division 2 and 3 as the Lower Sixes were not in the school yet. Although the House was handicapped, our athletes still did their best and managed to pick up some valuable points. The Divison 2, 4 x 100 m relay team managed third placing. Other outstanding athletes were Nizammudin, Julian Koh and Joel Nonnis. These athletes have done the House proud.
Although the House did not finish among the top few, credit should be given to our House captain for the hard work he had taken in training the athletes.
