The morning of Friday, 25th. March 1977 was marked by fine clear skies. And what better was there to start off the school’s annual cross-country.
Long before the start, participants were already on the field waiting for the start. At approximately 8.15 am, the first group of the pupils (the juniors and girls) were let off; ten minutes later, the seniors (level 4,5 and 6). Over Bukit Cina, throught kampongs, and between padi fields they went, each doing his or her bit for the House.
It wasn’t before very long that the front runners were back.
After the race was over, the prize-giving ceremony was held. The Pricinpal gave away the prizes. In the overall championship St. Francis, emerged as the champion followed by Famosa, Raffles, Albuquerque, Minto and Van Diemen.
Although Van Diemen was last, the house did creditably well considering the fact that the house only comprises of level 1 and 4 pupils.
