In 1976 during the 150th Anniversary, the campaign was launched with two main aims in mind. One was to reduce the threat of dengue fever and the other was to instil good neighbourly feelings and to forge a closer relationship with the residents in Kampung Bandar Kaba where the campaign was carried out.
Besides the Uniformed Units, volunteers too participated in the campaign. The contribution of the participants was not only limited to that of cleaning up the area concerned and lessening the threat of dengue fever; they were also putting into practice the principle of ‘gotong-royong’ and that of the Rukun Tetangga scheme.
